Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of
enthusiasm. ~Winston Churchill~
You may not think that the quote is related to advertising but I think it is. You may have had a failure or two in the past. But, now that you are treating your activities as an Internet business you will have Internet success. You have to adjust your Internet mindset to learn from failure, change your approach and keep going.
You should have been surfing for several days now. Boring isn’t it. It is very easy to put off or even just quit surfing for that reason. Believe me I understand.
Unfortunately, it is a necessary evil. To advertise on traffic exchanges, you need credits. You have to surf to earn credits (or buy them). I ease the boredom a few ways.
- Think about making more Internet income
- Use my laptop and surf while I watch television or listen to music
- Surf 5-10 sites at once. At least you have to use your mind a little bit to click the right images as you switch from site to site
- Find sites that have something you like - does not matter what
I usually do all of those. My favorite sites are
- Royal Surf - I really get into the joust game
- Traffic Roundup - a game similar to Royal Surf
- TS-25 - if you can spend the time in one week to be one of the top 25 surfers, you get put in a group with 24 other surfers and gain a lot more credits.
- Traffic Pods - similar to TS-25, once you get a pod, you earn a lot more credits each week
- StartXchange - good credit ratio especially if you surf 100 sites a day. The key here is surfing every day. Join a group and gain even more.
- Link Referral - Here you not only get to advertise but you will get reviews of your site. Surf only 30 sites, review 5 of them and make a forum post every day to get the maximum exposure for your site. Only takes about 15 minutes.
Alright I have gotten off the topic. It is time to advertise. All the traffic exchanges work the same but there are variation. It does not matter what TEs you joined. You should have some credits available. Now, we are going to use those credits for advertising.
Every TE will have a place to enter your affiliate link. It may be called web sites, my sites, thy sites but it is there somewhere. Without knowing the specific TE, I can’t tell you the exact name. I am going to use TrafficRoundup for my example.
- Login to Traffic Roundup
- Click on the tab in the left column that says “Manage Websites”
- Scroll down until you see the box that says “LINK:”
- Right next to Link is a text box. This is where you enter your affiliate link. I recommend copying your affiliate link and then pasting it in the box. This eliminates the risk of a typo. To be super safe, you may want to paste the link in a blank window and make sure it works first.
- Click the “ADD” button.
- Your web page should appear in a box with the question, “Does your site appear below?” If it does, click yes. If it doesn’t, click no. The link isn’t correct and you need to correct the link before you proceed.
- Once you click “YES”, you are ready to assign credits. Click the “ASSIGN” button below your link and assign credits and click “ASSIGN”
- Your done. Your splash page will display once for each credit you assigned.
Remember, advertising is a numbers game. The right person has to see your ad and click on it. So the more your ad is seen, the better.
Where TEs will vary is
- How your site is verified. With some TE’s you have to initiate the check. Others verify it manually.
- How you assign credits. With some exchanges, you have to go to a different page to assign your credits.
- Some exchanges require that a portion or all of your credits are auto-assigned. The advantage to this is as you surf, your site(s) is/are receiving credits.
Now that you are advertising, you need to keep surfing so you have credits to keep advertising.
Next time, I will discuss the other two ways to advertise on traffic exchanges - banners and text ads.
