Internet BusinessAs the title says, “It Is A Business” and more than that, It Is Your Business. That is the mind set you need to succeed. You have to treat your Internet business the same way you would treat a brick-and-mortar business. You have to do all the same things. You may do them in a different way but you have to do them. If you were going to open a new store in a shopping center, what would you have to do?

1. Figure out how much can you invest - notice I said invest and not spend. You invest in a business. Your investment is not just what it costs to get started. There will be other on going costs like advertising. There are three parts to your investment. First, what does it cost to get started? Second, how much does it cost every month? Third, how many months can I afford to do business with no income? You need to answer all three questions. If your answer to any of these is zero, the Internet is may not the right place for you to spend your money. Also keep in mind, the less you can invest, the longer it will take to see a return. I am not saying this to discourage you, I just want you to realize that the lower the budget, the longer it may take to see results.

2. Decide on a product - what you are going to promote is very important. It is very easy to find products on the Internet, there are thousands of them. Once you choose a product, research the company and the product. The internet is a wonderful place to do research. The resources are endless. Find out everything you can about the creator of the product. Google them. Check scam reports. Look for references. Call (email) the person that will be your sponsor. Call someone they sponsored. Do everything you can think of to understand everything involved in this opportunity. Ask every question you can think of. If everything checks out as reputable and this is something you can promote, only then should you invest your money. If you will be uncomfortable talking enthusiastically about your product, it is not the product for you.

Don't Waste Your moneyI have negotiated a discount price for the ebook Stop Being a Victim. You will save many times more than the $5 cost by avoiding programs that will take your money and give you little in return.

3. Create a budget - Your budget will have two pieces - money and time. The money budget is obvious. How much are you going to spend to get started and how much are you going to spend each month. Stick to your budget. It will keep you from wasting money. It is very easy to spend money on the Internet. You also need a time budget. Sit down and think about when you are going to work on your new business. Take a calendar, add all your activities, and see when you can work on your business. Write those times down. It is very easy with an Internet business to say, “I’ll do it later.” You know what? Later never comes. When this happens, your business will not do well and before long you spent your money instead of investing. Not allocating time to work on your business is probably the biggest “killer” of Internet businesses.

Remember earlier, I said that the lower your budget. the longer it would take to see a return. One way you can overcome a small budget is with time. The more time you can spend working on your business, the faster you will see results.

4. Create a business plan - a business plan will give you focus. Sit down and write down your objective, goals, your money budget and your time budget. Set goals in your business plan. For example, by the end of the first month I will have accomplished x, y, z. Keep this document close by your computer. Read it at least the goals once a week, keep track of how you are doing and change the business plan as necessary. You may think this is unnecessary but believe me it will really help.

5. Find Resources - if you are new to Internet marketing, look for resources to help you learn. Allocate at least 2 hours a week to research and learn. For example, how do I advertise? Join a forum about advertising. While I am thinking about it, one of the best resources I have found on Internet marketing is “The Masters Program” and it is free. The Masters Program provides a wealth of information/training from very successful marketers. These people have proven track records and share their knowledge and techniques with you. There is no selling in the sight just information. You need to join The Masters Program and as you develop downlines, they need to join.

Now you are ready to start your business. That is, if you’re mindset is
